An IBM AS400
midrange computer is required. They come in various models with many
configurations for a given model. SunPac requires only the simplest and
least costly AS400’s from the IBM iSeries product line.
PC’s are used as
workstations for the AS400 when working on SunPac. Software is required on
each PC to allow them to connect with the AS400 and these PC’s can still be
used for all other typical PC tasks.
The AS400 and the
PC’s that serve as workstations must be connected to a computer Network that
is using TCP/IP.
Specification of
AS400 minimum requirements can only be a basic guideline. Please contact
Sartox for further assistance prior to purchasing, or leasing a system.
Requirements
Processor CPW
should be 150 or above.
Main Storage
(Memory) should be at least 512 MB.
Disk Storage:
SunPac requires about 8GB for its software plus two years of Payroll data
and two Fiscal Years of data. This is in addition to the disk space required
for the AS400 operating system software. Keeping additional years of SunPac
data will require more disk space. Consult IBM for operating system disk
space requirements.
Please note, RAID
device parity backup protection for your AS400 is not required but is
available and will require additional disk space. |

use a printer on your computer network or attach a printer directly to the
AS400.
Uninterrupted
Power Supply: This is recommended but not required. Please consult IBM about
power requirement.
Software: IBM
AS400 Operating System: V5R1+. IBM “Client Access Express Licenses” (for the
PC to AS400 connection software). The actual version of “Access” needs to be
compatible with the Windows Operating System on your PC’s. IBM “Query 400”.
Support: Three
support contracts should be considered, Hardware Maintenance, Software
Support Subscription (for Operating System Upgrades), and Software Support
Line (Phone support for the AS400). |
